About Lunar Brewing Company
No-frills, wood-paneled bar & craft brewery with a jukebox, video games, darts & chips.
Lunar Brewing Parking
There is a bit of side street parking if you need it but they also have a fairly big private lot. Getting their via train is possible as Lunar Brewing Company is located just a few blocks South of the Villa Park Metra station.
Lunar Brewing Food
No food and no food trucks. This is a dive bar brewery at its finest. If there was food I saw no room for a kitchen, anyone eating and didnt/wasnt offered a food menu by the bartender.

Lunar Brewing Review
On 8/29/2017 I happen to be in the area and was looking to wait out traffic. This place had wifi and beer so of course I had to stop in and try one or two. Upon walking in I realized that it really did have a dive bar feel (every prior review made mention) but the big difference is that they brew their own beer (and unlike most dive bars have 100+ different beers available).
Lunar Brewing Atmosphere
I am a sucker for a great dive bar and this would classify as one for sure – Dive Bar Brewery. Dart boards, dark inside, small and large tables, the beer signs, and yeah just everything.
Lunar Brewing Service & Staff
The bartender is actually in charge of the guest taps and from the list I saw does a great job of mixing things up. The place isnt huge so he was the only one I saw working (it was 430PM on a Friday) and spent much of his time talking with some regulars. He also was great with giving me some background on the beers, some on the brewery and helped me find something to try.
Final Lunar Brewing Company Thoughts
I am guessing that this place is “technically” a nanobrewery – they appear to do super small batches of what they brew but what they do brew is pretty good. If I was a local to the area I would have a hard time arguing the prices ($5 pint for their beer) and the overall beer selection is really good and diverse. I think my only complaints would be no food (waaa, not a big deal) and there is no way to order a flight of their beers. If nothing else it would be cool if they had maybe a 4 beer taster option – if there was one I missed it!
Lunar Brewing Beer Review
Since I was working while on my visit (love breweries with wifi) and had to drive I stuck to lower alcohol options when possible. I had wanted to try the Jumping Cow Cream Ale but sadly they had just run out ealier in the day. They also have a good number and big range of guest taps that span from non craft to lots of really good craft beer. As of 9/2/2017 they had 17 beers on tap: 17, 71 bottles, and 36 cans available.
*Note – they DONT DO FLIGHTS from what I could tell.
- Lunar Modulator Doppelbock – Really smooth, really easy to drink. Best way to describe it to myself is an AmberBock that you can have many (many) of.
- Moondust White IPA – Nice flavor from start to finish
- Blueberry Wit – Nice flavor from start to finish
